Who you are and what do you do?
I am Dr. Joseph William Po, a translational cancer researcher. I manage the CONCERT Biobank operations located at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research. Our Biobank supports cancer research projects by providing high quality biospecimens – including tumour tissues and blood specimens – as well as important clinical data. Another crucial role of our Biobank is to establish and cultivate collaborative networks between clinical and scientific researchers.
What is your motivation (why do you do what you do)?
My motivation is to support cancer researchers solve the complexities of cancer that improve the everyday lives of cancer patients. The cancer journey is tough on the patient, the patients family and the healthcare system. I feel a deep satisfaction know that the work we do supports world-leading research that can help win the fight against cancer.
What will you do this World Cancer Day?
I will continue to support world-leading cancer research projects that improve the lives of cancer patients.
