My brother, David Iora, was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer in 2011 and was told he had just one month to live. He was fit and healthy with no prior health issues so his diagnosis at age 49 came as a shock, not only to him, but to his family and friends.
With no cure for his cancer, David underwent palliative chemotherapy and I witnessed the rapid deterioration in his health during that period. David passed away after a three-and-a-half month battle with cancer.
Deeply affected by his death, I searched for an avenue where I could be of help in finding a cure for pancreatic cancer. Hearing about the excellent work being conducted at the Ingham Institute, I joined the Community Cancer Panel and am matched with research teams seeking consumer involvement.
